Mayawati attacks SP for allying with smaller parties

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, on Friday, slammed Samajwadi Party saying that the party's working style and anti-Dalit ideology had forced it to ally with smaller parties in Uttar Pradesh.

Mayawati's series of tweets comes a day after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav indicated that the Samajwadi Party would tie-up with smaller political parties for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Mayawati described the Samajwadi Party as “helpless”, and said that its anti-Dalit approach had made all major parties stay away from it.

“The Samajwadi Party is left with no option but to go with smaller parties and this reflects its helplessness now,” she said.

Mayawati has been rather vocal in attacking the Samajwadi Party after its rebel legislators started hobnobbing with the SP. Akhilesh Yadav, meanwhile, has so far abstained from directly attacking the BSP and its president or even reacting to comments made on Samajwadi Party by the BSP chief.

Meanwhile, BSP leader Sudhindra Bhadoria also attacked SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday for his comments that the party would forge an alliance with small political parties in 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and said that SP had no policy, no principles and no programmes.

“SP has no policy, no principles, no programmes. This party is only a group of opportunists and power greedy people. Since the formation of this party, the anti-Dalit mentality has been seen in the country and especially in Uttar Pradesh,” Bhadoria charged.

He further alleged that both Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party were two sides of the same coin as they both represented feudalism and capitalist forces.

"The people who are poor and backward in Uttar Pradesh have suffered due to the Samajwadi Party. I would also like to say that both BJP and SP are two sides of the same coin, both represent feudalism and capitalist forces and the BSP struggle is against both of them," Bhadoria added.

Recently, Mayawati announced that her party will not take part in the upcoming elections for zila panchayat chairpersons’ posts. Claiming that the elections were unfair, she added that once BSP was voted to power in 2022, all district panchayat chairpersons would join the BSP. Mayawati has already announced that her party will fight polls alone in UP and Uttarakhand, while allying only with Akali Dal in Punjab.
