National president of  Bahujan Samaj Party Mayawati on Tuesday came in support of the Samajwadi Party and attacked the Yogi Adityanath government over trying to snatch the democratic right of opposition parties to stage demonstrations and protests against the “unjust” action by the government. The BSP supremo also assailed the government for the Allahabad University fee hike.

Reacting to interception of the protest march by the Samajwadi Party against the government on the first day of the Monsoon Session and the reaction to police action given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the House, Mayawati tweeted, “Not allowing the opposition parties to protest against the anti-people policies of the government and its autocracy and atrocities, etc has become the new dictatorial trend of the BJP government. At the same time, the government’s perception of litigation and arrest of people and suppressing the protest is dangerous.”

Without naming the Samajwadi Party, she wrote in support, accusing the BJP of not allowing the protest against and indifference of the UP government to inflation, poverty, unemployment, poor condition of roads, education, health, law and order, etc.

Regarding the Allahabad University fee hike, Mayawati tweeted that the way AU was trying to crush the students’ movement was unfair and condemnable. Targeting the UP government, Mayawati wrote, “The UP government should give up its autocracy and be sympathetic to the legitimate demands of the students.”
