Maya slams BJP, SP

Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati made a frontal attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi when she sought clarification on the snooping case involving a woman in Gujarat. She also advocated strict action against Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal accused in a sexual abuse case.

Former Chief Minister, however, defended party MP Dhananjay Singh involved in the alleged rape of a woman and murder of his domestic help in New Delhi. “There is a difference in case of Tejpal and Dhananjay. While Tejpal has admitted his wrongdoing, the probe is still underway against Dhananjay,” she pointed assuring that she will not wait for a minute once the Delhi Police also chargesheets him in the case. The BSP chief made these claims while addressing mediapersons at her residence on Friday afternoon.

Mayawati also took on the BJP for felicitating accused in Muzaffarnagar riots during Modi’s rally in Agra. “Despite objection by all the Opposition parties, senior leaders of the BJP felicitated the accused of Muzaffarnagar and Shamli riots in Agra and we strongly condemn it,” Mayawati told reporters.

“This step of the BJP can create tension in UP and if such a situation emerges the BSP would hold the SP equally responsible as it should not have given permission for holding such a rally. People should remain vigilant against the deeds of SP and BJP,” she said while holding both the BJP and SP jointly responsible for fueling communal tension.
