Hitting out at both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the ruling Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday alleged that while the former was trying to lure people with fake promises in UP, the ruling SP has already conceded defeat by showing its desperation in forging an alliance with other parties.
“The entire Samajwadi Party is a divided house. Even its core vote bank-Yadavs, are divided in two parts-one backing Akhilesh Yadav and the other Shivpal Yadav. Muslims should asses this and think before going with them. Besides, the SP knows that it would be routed and was hence trying for a pre-poll truck with others,” she said.
Addressing mediapersons on Monday, Mayawati reiterated that the BSP will go alone in the elections as it did not need any support and was confident of getting absolute majority at the hustings.
Criticising BJP president Amit Shah, Mayawati said that the saffron party has failed to deliver during its two-and-a-half year regime, and was therefore bringing out Parivartan Yatra like SP’s Vikas Yatra.
“The BJP made lofty promises like giving ‘Maruti’ to each family of Bundelkhand while fagging off the Parivartan Yatra in Jhansi. The fact remains that people want food, job and financial support to meet the losses incurred due to damage to their crops. The BJP even reneged on its promise of giving `15 lakh each to every one during the lok Sabha poll campaign,” she asserted.
The BSP chief said it was unfortunate that the BJP did not promise the people of Bundelkhand about the creation of a separate State. She also refuted the BJP’s charge that no development took place during BSP’s regime. “The Agra-Delhi Expressway, Metro Rail in Noida, a detailed project report for Metro Rail in lucknow and several other projects were completed during BSP regime. More imporantly, the people were living without any fear during my tenure,” she claimed.
The former UP CM also asked the SP’s first family to overcome the internal strife and concentrate on the prevailing misrule and do something concrete to control smog across the State.
