Maya goes all guns blazing against BJP at Meerut rally

Fighting hard to regain lost ground in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday targetted the three-year-old Narendra Modi-led Government in the Centre alleging that the current scenario in the country is worse than “Emergency” days.

“Situation in the current scenario is even worse than Emergency. Central agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax  are simply targetting leaders of Opposition parties while they are saving ruling party leaders,” Mayawati alleged while accusing the Centre of misusing official machinery to settle scores with other Opposition party leaders on the ground that they are  “corrupt”.

Addressing the first public gathering in Meerut after her resignation from the Rajya Sabha, Mayawati said some political parties tried to take benefit of the Saharanpur riots. She accused the BJP of planning the riots. “I was not allowed to speak about Dalit atrocities in Saharanpur, so I resigned,” she said while explaining  about her resignation from the Rajya Sabha.

She alleged that the ruling party both in the Centre and in the State had orchestrated the caste clashes as well as the killing of Dalit leaders. When she tried to bring the facts before the nation, she was not allowed to do so which shows that BJP had imposed an undeclared “Emergency” in the country.

Mayawati also blamed that Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering by the BJP in last Assembly elections as a major reason for damage to her party.

, Mayawati said the BSP took the EVM issue to the Apex Court. Rs Rs We are sure that the BJP had tampered with the EVMs so when our voice went  unheard in the Election Commission, we appraoched the Supreme Court”, she pointed while adding that her Party demanded that next Parliament elections should be held with ballot papers.

Talking about reservation in promotion, Mayawati said that nothing has been decided on reservation in promotion yet. Also promotion in private sector is still pending. She alleged that BJP has anti-reservation mentality and this was exposed both during Bihar and later in elections here in UP.

Praising Baba Saheb Ambedkar, BSP supremo said that Baba Saheb always worked for welfare and upliftment of SC-ST and OBCs. Baba Saheb helped OBC by placing section 340 in Constitution. Targeting BJP on promise made with farmers, Mayawati said that BJP ditched farmers. “BJP had promised to waive off loans of farmers before elections. After elections UP CM promised to waive off loans of Rs 1 lakh but Yogi government had waived loans of Rs 1, Rs 2 which is insult to farmers” she said adding that BJP is just appeasing some industrialists and doing nothing for the poor and downtrodden section of the society. She also attacked Narendra Modi on demonetisation and said that the economic development took a back seat after the Rs Notebandi’ and only middle and lower class people felt the pinch of the Central Government’s move. She claimed that her Party would continue to fight for dalits and downtrodden section of the society with aim of Rs Survjan Hitai-Sarvjan Sukhai’.
