Maya: BSP to follow path shown by Dalit scions in difficult ‘chamcha era’

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati, on Tuesday, called the present time as “chamcha era” and said that it was very difficult to stick to the mission shown by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar but still her party would carry its struggle and move forward on the path shown by the great Dalit scions.

Remembering the party’s founder Kanshi Ram on his birth anniversary here on Tuesday, Mayawati said that only the struggle of the BSP to bring crores of Dalits, adivasis, backwards and other oppressed people out of the life of helplessness and make them stand on their feet, was a true tribute to Manyavar Kanshi Ram ji.

Mayawati said that she fought hard for life and made infinite sacrifices to bring alive the humanitarian movement of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's self-respect. “It also earned a lot of success on its strength and gave a new dimension to the politics of the country,” she added.

Referring to the work done by Kanshi Ram, Mayawati said, "In order to make the memories of such a great man, during the BSP governments in UP, many grand sites, parks, educational institutions, hospitals and residential buildings have been named in his name. Colonies etc. were built and public welfare schemes were run. Manyavar Kanshi Ramji memorial established in the capital Lucknow is the most prominent among them.”

In the wake of the recent defeat in UP, Mayawati said, "In fact it is in the present chamcha era that the BSP is still devoted to the missionary caravan of Dr Ambedkar by the money earned through blood and sweat. Standing on the strength of the money earned through hard work is not a minor thing, but a big thing, which is the result of this movement and on the basis of which the BSP has also earned many historical successes especially in UP.

“In the future also, we have to remain persistent in the struggle with our principles at any cost,” she asserted, claiming that the BSP would again come to power.Meanwhile, in wake of the humiliating defeat in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has taken a big decision.

She replaced Ritesh Pandey as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha with Girish Chandra Jatav. Sangeeta Azad will replace Girish Chandra Jatav as the chief whip. Mayawati has given this information by writing a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. This decision of Mayawati is being linked to the party's defeat in the UP elections and a change in the party's strategy regarding the next Lok Sabha elections.

Mayawati has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, giving information about the changes, saying that the party has now nominated Girish Chandra Jatav in place of Ritesh Pandey, the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha.

Ram Shiromani Verma will become the deputy leader.

It has been decided to make Sangeeta Azad the chief whip in place of Girish Chandra Jatav.

The BSP has suffered a crushing defeat in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. If the party won just one seat, its vote share also came down by about 10 per cent. It is believed that after this defeat, Mayawati can make a big change in the party organisation in the coming days.

Ritesh Pandey was given the responsibility in January 2020BSP chief Mayawati made Ambedkar Nagar MP Ritesh Pandey the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha in January 2020. Mayawati had then said that being the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha and the BSP president of Uttar Pradesh, being from the same community, little had changed in it. Instead of Danish Ali, Ritesh Pandey was made the leader of BSP in the Lok Sabha.
