A massive cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched by a joint team of security forces in half a dozen villages of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Sunday. The operation concluded without any occurrence of clashes or untoward incident. Sources said that Sindho Shirmal, Balpora, Ganowpora, Barthipor, Wathoo and Chak villages of the area were cordoned off.
They said the operation was launched on the basis of presence of armed militants in the cluster of villages.
The high speed mobile internet services in south Kashmir region continued to remain snapped ahead of the upcoming civic polls in the Valley.
The mobile internet services were suspended in four districts of Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian since Saturday evening.
Only 2 G internet and broadband services remained operational in the region with intermittent disruption.
Authorities said the high speed internet services were snapped as a precautionary security measure.
The internet suspension comes four days after low speed internet services were restored in Shopian and Pulwama.
The districts stayed off line to curb circulation of resignations posted by SPOs and policemen through social media networking sites following the killing of three policemen by militants in Shopian district last month.
