CPI Maoists have blown up a Government middle school at Srendag in Herhunj police station in latehar district on Saturday night. The school is now in debris. More than a hundred students studying here are now without school and their mid-day meal. Maoists used multiple landmines to bring down three of the five rooms of the school.
Sources said the Maoists who numbered 20 to 25 did this orgy of violence taking the school as a soft target. The Maoists were led by Sarwanji. Sources said relatives of Maoists are too keen to fight the panchayat election here. The Maoists find their arch rival in TPC and this destruction of a school by the Maoists is to keep TPC out of the poll ring here. DIG police Palamu Saket Kumar Singh has confirmed the destruction of the government school at Serendag in latehar and added ‘This destruction has a poll angle. It is a pre poll time. The Maoists are too desperate to keep their turf free of TPC invasion. The destruction is to show Maoists presence and a reminder to TPC’.
However when confronted that Maoists are the big losers as common people in Serendag are too sore with this destruction of the school where their children used to study and have mid day meal DIG said ‘ Maoists do major aberrations for petty gains and here too this poll angle is too evident’.
Serendag is a village where TPC and Maoists have rendered the lives of the poor most miserable. TPC beats up poor for being informer of Maoists. The Maoists assault the poor for the same charge of being informers to the TPC.
However, Serendag village has not seen any blood battle between Maoists and the TPC. Sources said the poor villagers are at the receiving end of the Maoists and the TPC.
