Suspected CPI (Maoist) rebels blew up two different portions of railway tracks on the CIC section of Dhanbad Rail Division in the last two days, disturbing services on the railway route during their two-day Bharat Bandh. No casualties were reported in either of the two blasts.
The rebels, who called for a 48 hours bandh from Sunday midnight, first blew up a portion of the track near Tilaiya railway crossing of Jageshwar Bihar in Bokaro. As a result, railway traffic on the Gomoh-Barkakana route was stalled for a long time. A special train was dispatched to the spot by railway authorities to reinstate railway traffic on the route.
The extremists then triggered another blast on the same route under the Dhanbad Division between pole number 57 and 58 near Dumri Bihar railway station on Tuesday afternoon, sources in Dhanbad DRM office said.
YS Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, Bokaro said the second blast took place around 1:30 pm on Tuesday. The Maoists have targeted the railway tracks for long as these have been soft targets for them, he added.
