Telangana police arrested a former naxalite turned Mandal Praja Parishad president of ruling TRS Immadi Gopi in Nizamabad district after he kicked a woman in the chest. The video of the incident went viral prompting the police to arrest him and produce him in court where he was remanded in judicial custody.
Police said that the incident at Indalwai village of Nizamabad during an altercation over a land dispute.
Police said first the woman Vodde Rajavva beat up Gopi with Chappal and it provoked him to kick her in the chest.
The video shows that the impact of kick was such that the middle aged woman was thrown up and she fell a few feet away.
It evoked retaliation from onlookers who beat the MPP President and handed him over to the police.
Gopi was a command of CPI Maoist in the past and after his surrender the State Government had allotted him a piece of land measuring 1125 square yards as part of rehabilitation package.
