Unrepentant for his alleged “anti-party activities” expelled Marxist leader and former Bengal Minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah on Thursday mounted a vicious attack on the party leadership comparing them with “lifeless stones” who were concerned not about the party or its ideology but their respective chairs only.
Without naming former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee for his repeated admission (such as Nandigram and Netai firings) of lapses during when his party was in power Mollah said he never favoured the “people who spit first and then lick it up.”
Insisting that the CPI(M) was currently filled with “no leaders or cadres but only managers” Mollah said the party had no hopes in near future till such leaders were removed. The 72-year-old Mollah till recently considered the most prominent Muslim face in his party and who had tooth-and-nail opposed the land policy of Bhattacharjee and his politburo colleague Nirupam Sen besides holding them responsible for the left Front’s debacle in 2011 elections was expelled on Wednesday for anti-party activities. On whether he would go to the party control commission he said: “I will not go back to the party of Pirs” adding “I am a free man now and my struggle will continue.”
