In a shocking incident, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was taken by surprise when a youth slapped him during his road show in Panipat on Sunday.

Hooda was in an open jeep, during his road show at Sanjay Chowk, and moving towards Sabzi Mandi where his political rally was organised on Sunday afternoon when he was attacked. The incident took place around 3.30 pm, when a youth, out of the blue, managed to reach near the

Chief Minister’s vehicle and slapped him. Soon realising the breach of security, he was immediately interrupted by CM security and was later arrested. Panipat Superintendent of Police B Satheesh Balan  told The Pioneer that the person has been identified as Kamal Mukhija, resident of Sanauli (Gohana) in Panipat district. He has been arrested by the police on the charge of security breach.

“The person who tried to manhandle the Chief Minister, is not a normal rather he is mentally disturbed due to unemployment for some years and he came here in Panipat to pay his obeisance at ‘Dargah’ there, when the incident occurred,” said Balan. However, according to sources, the attacker is unemployed and is quite normal. He has also taken an exam of Haryana police service but couldn’t get selected.

He was reportedly shouting at the Chief Minister that he was also among those who gave money for the job, and didn’t get the job and Chief Minister is responsible for it, hence he took such a drastic step. The State Director General of Police has called the details of all staff deputed in the CM security and demanded explanation over this mishap. However, local police is trying to ascertain the exact cause of the attack and whereabouts of the youth, whether he belonged to any political party, or what the exact reason behind this attack was. However, State Congress condemned this act.

The party State General Secretary Ran Singh Mann said that this is not only an irresponsible act but also condemnable, any person who is in any problem should not do such things, hence there is no place for such acts.
