Border residents of RS Pura on Thursday extended a red carpet welcome to a groom who landed in the border belt in a special helicopter sortie to solemnise marriage ceremony fulfilling long cherished dream of his father.
For border residents who were spending sleepless nights, owing to regular cross border firing, it was an unusual sight to witness a groom, dressed in sherwani, deboarding from a helicopter in their border village.
As helicopter appeared on the horizon large number of guests waiting for the groom cheered him from ground zero.
Special helipad was constructed to ensure smooth and safe landing in the border area.
This is for the first time a groom had hired a private chopper to solemnise marriage ceremony in the border State of Jammu & Kashmir.
The State Government agencies had given ‘no objection certificate’ to the grooms' family for a special ride.
Before boarding the chopper near his home, Anil Kumar, running his own mobile repair shop in Gangyal told reporters, “It was my fathers dream to organise a helicopter ride for me on my marriage”. He made efforts at the time of my elder brothers marriage function but due to some constraints it could not materialise. This time his long cherished dream was fulfilled after State Government agencies gave ‘no objection certificate’.
His sister-in-law and mother were equally happy and the atmosphere in their neighbourhood was electrifying as large number of neighbours escorted him to the helipad wishing him ‘Happy Married life’.
Kumar was accompanied by his elder sister and sister-in law in the chopper.
On his landing in village Kotli of RS Pura Anil Kumar was given accorded warm welcome by his brides’ family. Before going in for the marriage function, Anil Kumar said he would return with his bride in the chopper on Friday morning.
Anil Kumar’s father Madan lal told reporters, “I am feeling happy today my long cherished desire to ferry my daughter-in law back home in a helicopter is going to be fulfilled. I couldn’t do so in the case of my elder son a few years ago because I didn’t get permission from the Government,” lal said.
But this time I was successful as all Government officers extended a helping hand, he added.
