A 30-year-old man was arrested for killing a property dealer who was out on bail after being booked under MCOCA, police said on Sunday.
“Rishi Gupta (30) a small time criminal who was also out on bail was arrested from near the Shahdara Metro station after a tip-off,” said Ravindra Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.
A pistol along with four live cartridges of .32 bore and four cartridges of .315 bore were recovered from him, he said.
According to the police, Rishi said that he and his friend Mobin Sabbir were an associate of the victim Khalil Ahmed, who was engaged in extortion from builders and businessmen of Old Delhi.
Recently, following a dispute with Khalil, Mobin hatched a conspiracy along with Rishi to kill him. On Thursday, five men who came on two motorcycles, barged into Khalil’s office and opened fire at him before fleeing from the scene. Ahmed died on the spot, police added.
Ahmed had been charged under stringent MCOCA earlier for extortion and gangster activities. He had several other cases against him, police said.
