In a bid to exploit the growing concern about the Indians’ safety in America and play it against the Narendra Modi Government, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday wondered why the Centre was keeping mum over the recent killings of Indians in that country.
Banerjee even wrote a letter to Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj asking her to take adequate measures and ensure safety of the Indians living in that country.
Apart from raising the US issue, Banerjee also got her Trinamool Congress to rally against the Centre’s decision to link issuance of Aadhaar cards with the mid-day meal schemes. “Our Chief Minister has expressed her concern on the mid-day meal issue because this is simply inhuman to take away the rice bowl from the front of one small child while serving the same to others with Aadhar cards,” said State Minister Firhad Hakim quoting Banerjee.
