Bengal Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday launched fresh attack on the Mamata Banerjee Government for “ruining the State’s economy” which he said was running on doles.
Attacking the Chief Minster for distributing doles to the people in the name of Laxmi Bhandar (scheme) that entails “giving women cash of a few hundred of rupees” Adhikari said “even in that count she has left out the majority of the people whereas the TMC manifesto says that they will cover 5 crore people in this scheme.”
He said such schemes would cost the State exchequer a yearly Rs 15,000 crore at a time when there was no new source of taxes for the State.
Attacking the Chief Minister for driving away industries Adhikari said “today industrial investment in Bengal is nil, there is no land policy, in last 10 years they have not been able to successfully complete a single school services or other State examination … and on top of that to pursue her dole politics to win votes her Government has taken loan of Rs 10.54 lakh crore in the past 10 years … tomorrow she will leave Bengal an insolvent State.”
The State BJP women’s wing on Thursday staged state-wide protests against post-poll violence and rape of saffron supporters. In Thursday’s agitation BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul was arrested.
