In a sudden development, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday called off her trip to Delhi where she was supposed to take part in a meeting on “One Nation One Election”. The visit was called off on account of the on-going Budget Session, she claimed.
Senior Trinamool Congress MPs Sudip Bandopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee would attend the meeting in her place.
Curiously the Chief Minister had a couple of days ago announced from a public meeting that she would make a short apolitical visit to Delhi — “only to take part in the meeting on One Nation One Election and nothing else,” before making clear once again as to what she thought of the formula which she called an “absurd” idea.
