Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday blamed Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for patronising the syndicate raj — run by her party men — that was responsible for flyover collapse in Kolkata killing 26 people.
Attacking Banerjee for bringing about a Parivartan (change) where building syndicates ruled the roost Modi said “Didi brought the parivartan by removing the left rule but after coming to power we saw a parivartan in her” where she not only let the Sharada and Narada accused go free but also patronised the syndicate raj.
Modi on Sunday addressed two election rallies: one at Krishanagar in Nadia district and one in Kolkata.
Attacking Banerjee for defying the electoral code of conduct Modi questioned the propriety of her answering an EC notice through the State Chief Secretary. The Commission had slapped a notice on Banerjee for breaking model code of conduct and issuing threats to the people.
“You could have answered yourself, or through your advocates but how is it that you used the Government machinery and got the Chief Secretary to answer itIJ” Modi asked saying Banerjee seemed to have conceded defeat before the election results were out.
“looking at the way she is attacking the Election Commission and making it a fight between Trinamool and the Commission it seems that Didi has already conceded defeat” Modi said adding “elections will come and go and so will wins and losses but in the process if we destroy the system then nothing will remain” he said.
Attacking the Government for not being able to create jobs, Modi said “today the youth of this State have to go to other States in search of employment whereas the TMC leaders strive for their own employment.”
Attacking Banerjee for backing the Saradha and Narada-tainted leaders Modi said “first the TMC leaders looted the poor men through Saradha chit fund and now many of them were seen taking money on TV camera. By doing so they were making a deal to sell Bengal’s future,” and asked whether the people would once again bring those people who sell their future back to power.
Attacking the left and Congress for joining hands in Bengal and fighting in Kerala Modi said the parties that make compromises on their ideologies should not be trusted. “These Congress and the left were trying to befool the people of Bengal and Kerala. While in Bengal they are friends in Kerala they are fighting against each other. Such deception of people is unprecedented in the country,” he said.
Hoping that the people of Bengal who had been liberally forgiving the parties like the left, Congress and the Trinamool will never do so in future, Modi said his party worked on three agendas: “job for the youth in their own area, education for children and medicine for the old.”
