Mamata hits back at PM Modi for 'insulting' Bengal

Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue of electoral violence in Bengal, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday hit back at the Centre for “insulting Bengal” at the drop of hat while “more heinous offences take place every day in States like Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.”

Speaking to the media after Trinamool Congress’ phenomenal victory in the panchayat elections in which the State ruling party won almost 90 percent seats, Banerjee wondered “why Bengal will be insulted daily like this when the situation are worse in other States like Rajasthan and UP where 500 people have perished in encounters.”
