Mamata expresses concern over Abhinandan’s safety

Mamata Banerjee on Thursday expressed concern over the safety of Wing Commander Abhinandan and at the same time faulted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for avoiding an all-party meeting post Balakot strike wondering as to whether the air raid on the intended cross-border target was a genuine hit or a miss “as is being claimed by some foreign media.”

Abhinandan’s Mig 21 Bison on Wednesday went down in course of shooting down an enemy F-16 while chasing away the enemy squadrons that had intruded into Indian territory in Jammu & Kashmir.

The fighter pilot was currently in Pakistani custody and was likely to be released by that country on Friday. “We are anxiously waiting for the safe return of our brave pilot Abhinandan who was captured by Pakistan,” while defending India, the Chief Minister said before squarely accusing the Centre of playing politics with the soldiers’ blood.

Questioning the impact of the Indian Air Force strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camps on a hill top near Balakot Banerjee said, “we want to know how much truth is there in the claim of the Government,” questioning why “the Prime Minister is avoiding an all-party meeting to brief the opposition parties about the success of the air raid,” on terror camps.
