Mamata dubs BJP leaders 'goons from Delhi'

In a development queer only to the Trinamool Congress era, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday used a Government platform to make politically-loaded remarks against the BJP.

Addressing an audience in Birbhum, the Chief Minister once again launched a scathing attack on the BJP circuitously calling its leaders goondas who were importing ‘powder keg’ culture in the district.

“I will not tolerate mischief and hooliganism in the name of political activities,” she said adding, her Government was informed about how “goondas are coming from Delhi” and guns were coming from Munger in Bihar to create political disturbance in Birbhum district.

Curiously, the district unit of Trinamool Congress is presided by one of her star leaders Anubrata Mondal who hit national headlines for the first time in 2013 panchayat elections when he publicly encouraged his supporters to “torch the Opposition houses and bomb the police vehicles if they come to protect them.”

The same district subsequently saw the death of a police officer after he was shot dead by the Trinamool mob. A rebel party worker was also shot dead after the speech.

Banerjee who considers Mondal as an “asset of my party” said, “No bomb-manufacturing will be allowed and I will ask the police to recover all such arms and bombs hidden by the miscreants.”

Birbhum has in the past 5-6 years seen numerous murderous fights between political groups with bombs dropping like rain drops. This, despite the fact that the police have recovered and destroyed several thousand of bombs in the past several years.

As though it was a new law she was preaching to the people of the district she said “ We will allow no bomb making or hooliganism of the RSS who are taking out processions with swords to show their muscle power.”
