Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday had a providential escape when the chopper she was flying in from Jalpaiguri to Siliguri Bagdogra Airport developed snags soon after it faced air turbulence in the midst of heavy rains and strong winds.
She was coming after addressing a panchayat election rally in Jalpaiguri district. She was scheduled to land at Bagdogra airport off Siliguri in Darjeeling district some 30 miles away.
