Make better use of social media during campaign: Modi

Published on:

Asking the party to crystallise people’s anger against the Congress to BJP’s benefit, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday suggested party to make the optimal utilisation of social media in the election campaign.

A new entrant in BJP’s parliamentary board, Modi pointed out there were nearly 14 crore interest users while the Congress got nearly 11 crore votes in the 2009 election. The Gujarat CM laid emphasis on making the best out of anti-Congress mood and cautioned the party against any laxity.

He pointed out that Digvijay Singh Government returned to power in Madhya Pradesh in 2008 despite a strong anti-incumbency because the BJP could not channelise people’s sentiment against the then Government.

“Just reiterating that people are angry with Congress will not do any good to the party. We need to work hard to crystallise this. We have to work hard and reach out to people,” Modi said.

The Gujarat CM asked party leaders to draw a contrast between the performances of the BJP ruled states and Congress Governments to make electorate understand the importance of

good governance.
