In a major reshuffle, the Government on Friday changed three senior Information Service officials, including Neelam Kapur, the head of Press of Information Bureau. She has been shifted to Field Publicity Division, and Frank Noronha, the current head of the Division, has been posted as the new PIB chief. Doordarshan’s Additional Director General SM Khan has also been shifted and put on compulsory wait.
Kapur invited a huge controversy for the past few days in the social media for bringing Twitter’s India head Raheel Khurshid for conducting refresher course for PIB officials. Khurshid was a controversial figure for his anti-Narendra Modi rants on Twitter. His comments supporting separatists in Kashmir and other objectionable remarks against the Prime Minister ignited the demand for changing Kapur in the Twitter world for the past days.
