In a major boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in rural Maharashtra ahead of the lok Sabha polls, the Sharad Joshi-led Shetkari Sanghatana on Thursday extended its full support to the fledgling Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
The development comes on the heels of an announcement of support made by social activist Medha Patkar, who spearheads the National Alliance for People's Movement (NAPM), Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) and is associated with several NGOs.
“Shetkari Sanghatana led by Sharad Joshi has extended its full support to Aam Aadmi Party, a Shetkari Sanghatana spokesperson said.
Shetkari Sanghatana has for the last 35 years been working on issues of remunerative prices for agricultural produce.
“The Sanghatana believes in AAP’s fight against corruption, and on other major issues such as Swaraj, good governance, women’s safety, and price rise,” AAP spokesperson said.
