Maharashtra House session disrupted over farm loan waiver

The Opposition Congress and NCP on Wednesday disrupted the proceedings in the Maharashtra Assembly over farm loan waiver, forcing three noisy adjournments in the House.

On a day when the Opposition legislators staged a dharna on the stairs of the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Radhkrishna Vikhe-Pation raised the issue in the House through an adjournment notice on the issue. Making a case for admission of his adjournment notice, Vikhe-Patil said that farmers across Maharashtra were in extreme distress owing to the drought conditions prevailing for the third consecutive year. He said that the State Government should not lose any time in announcing farm loan waiver.

Joining Vikhe-Patil in his clamour for the loan waiver, senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar reminded the BJP as how its legislators while in Opposition would repeatedly raise the issue of agrarian crisis in the State and demanded loan waiver.
