lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Monday donated Rs 14 lakh to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for assistance to flood victims in Jammu & Kashmir. She handed over the cheque to PM Narendra Modi. The lok Sabha Secretariat staff also donated their one day’s salary to the fund.
“It is important to note that as a mark of solidarity with the victims of an unforeseen flood that had wreaked havoc in most parts of J&K, lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had appealed to extend all possible assistance. Speaker contributed generously to the PM’s Relief Fund for this purpose. Besides, the lok Sabha Secretariat staff also contributed their one day’s pay,” said the statement issued by lok Sabha Secretariat.
