Within hours of his writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging the latter to visit the family of a distressed farmer who committed suicide during the weekend, the Maharashtra Government sacked Shiv Sena leader Kishore Tiwari as the chairman of the State-run Vasantrao Naik Sheti Swavlamban Mission (VNSSM).
Though the order signed by Deputy Secretary (Revenue & Forest Department), Sanjay Dharurkar removing him from his post as the VNSSM’s chairman did not mention the reason for his removal from the post, Tiwari accused Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP for acting with “lightning speed” to sack him from the post within hours after the former had shot off a letter to the Prime Minister.
Ironically enough, it was Fadnavis who had in August 2015 appointed Tiwari as the VNSSM's chairman when he was the Chief Minister in the previous BJP-Shiv Sena alliance government from 2014 to 2019.
While heading the VNSSM, Tiwari enjoyed Minister of State (MoS) rank Tiwari was once close to Fadnavis, but his relations with the former chief minister and current DCM soured after he became a part of the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray.
