The ruling BJP-Shiv Sena combine and Opposition Congress and NCP on Tuesday appeared to be heading for a confrontation over the saffron alliance Government’s refusal to entertain its plea for the introduction of a condolence motion over the murder of senior CPI leader Govind Pansare during the budget session of the Maharashtra legislature begining here on March 9.
Talking to mediapersons at the Vidhan Bhavan here after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting convened to chalk out the agenda for the budget session, leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil of the Congress said: “We are thoroughly disappointed over the state government’s refusal to passage of condolence motion for late Pansare. There is absolutely no substance in the BJP-led government’s argument that a condolence motion for Pansare cannot be introduced in the House just because he was not a member of the House.”
Echoing the views expressed by Vikhe-Patil, leader of the Opposition in the State legislative Council Dhananjay Munde of the NCP said: “At the BAC meeting, where Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present, we insisted that along with the condolence motion for late R R Patil on the first day of the session, another condolence motion for Pansare should also be tabled.
