Maharashtra Housing Minister Prakash Mehta of the BJP, who is also the guardian Minister of Raigad district, landed in trouble on Thursday for misbehaving with a journalist. Mehta, who was already under the electronic media scanner for arriving late at the collapse site and for taking a selfie while the Chief Minister was inspecting the collapsed bridge on Wednesday, lost his cool on Thursday after a television reporter button-holed him for comments.
The journalist belonging to a regional television channel Saam complained to the Minister that the State or district administration was not providing any information to the media or the family members of those who went missing after Tuesday’s bridge collapse. Mehta, who had come to visit the family members of the persons missing in Tuesday’s tragedy, lost his cool and virtually shouted at the journalist. “You are asking me silly questions... Why should I answer to youIJ You are here for increasing your TRP ratings,” Mehta said while his supporters elbowed the shocked reporter.
