lS Speaker's action upsets YSR Cong

Even before the dust settled down in Karnataka, now the time has come to prove its impartiality of the Chair of the lok Sabha. The latest controversial decision of the Speaker of the lower House, Sumitra Mahajan, accepting resignations of two BJP MPs elected from Karnataka ie BS Yeddyurappa and B Sri Ramulu, on the back drop of their election to Karnataka Assembly, keep pending YSRCP MPs resignation.

The development has left YSRCP upset. lok Sabha Secretary General, Snehlata Shrivastava, on 19 of this month, has issued a bulletin by accepting resignations of Yeddyurappa and Sri Ramulu to facilitate them to take oath in Karnataka Assembly. Yeddyurappa was representing Shimoga Parliamentary Constituency whereas Sri Ramulu was representing Bellary.

Protesting the NDA Government failure in granting Special Status to Andhra Pradesh, five YSRCP MPs, on April 5, submitted their resignations to the lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan. Till date, neither the Speaker has not accepted their resignations nor the YSRCP are insisting for accepting resignations. Contrary to the rules of the House, the Speaker has accepted the lateral resignations of Yeddyurappa and Sri Ramulu. As per rules, the Speaker has to accept YSRCP MPs resignation and has to issue lok Sabha Bulletin accordingly before accepting Yeddyurappa and Sri Ramulu resignations.

YSRCP MPs also created ruckus continuously demanding SCS to Andhra Pradesh and after sine die of lok Sabha, they submitted resignations to the Speaker. At the time of submission of resignations, she even enquired with them whether they resigned wilfully or not. YSRCP MPs told her they resigned wilfully. Till date no action is initiated. Recently, YSRCP MPs met the President of India in Delhi on State issues, but, they didn’t either met the Speaker or seek the appointment of the Speaker or even they didn’t demand publicly for acceptance of their resignations.
