The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Centre, State Government, CBI, Enforcement Directorate, NIA and others, including Ranjeet Singh Kohli alias Raquibul Hassan, asking them to reply within a month as to why the charges against Kohli in connection with the Tara Shahdeo case should not be referred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The NIA is the Central counter terrorism law enforcement agency and is empowered to deal with terror related crimes across the States without special permission from the States. A division bench was hearing a PIl filed by one Vijay Jethia on August 26 seeking an investigation into the whole episode by the NIA in order to get into the details of the case.
