love jehad boomeranged on BJP: Shivpal Yadav

Buoyant over the victory of Samajwadi Party candidates in the just-concluded by-elections, party leaders said that the issue of love jehad raised by the BJP in this election has boomeranged as people had voted for development rather than the divisive politics.

“We thank the people for supporting the SP in a big way in the bypolls as they supported the secular agenda of the Akhilesh Yadav Government, thus negating the communal forces. This is evident from the results when the SP won eight out of the 11 Assembly seats along with the lone Mainpuri lok Sabha seat,’’ said PWD Minister and senior SP leader Shipval Singh Yadav here on Wednesday.

Talking to reporters in the party office, Yadav said that the Narendra Modi Government of the Centre has failed in just four-month of its governance because it had given false assurances to the people.“The BJP leaders had assured acche din to the people during elections. But these have now turned into bure din because the Government has failed to control price rise and corruption,” he further said.

When asked if the SP would punish those leaders, in whose constituencies the party failed to win, Yadav said there is no such move but the party will strengthen its base in lucknow, Saharanpur and Noida where the party candidates lost elections.
