loP Gupta demands CBI probe into desilting contracts

Blaming the Delhi Government for desilting nullah “only on papers”, leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Tuesday demanded CBI enquiry into the desilting contracts thereby saying that he would sit on dharna outside Kejriwal’s house in Civil lines.

Gupta said at the same time, it has led to flooding of roads and colonies even during normal downpour. “We demand CBI enquiry into the desilting contracts and other related matters. We will sit on dharna outside Kejriwal’s house in Civil lines,” he said.

lOP said Delhiites have been experiencing inconvenience due to extensive waterlogging. “The truth remains that the Government has committed gross irregularities in cleansing of nullahas. The CM has no time for Delhi and Delhiites since he is more concerned about Punjab and Goa and national issues to gain dramatic importance,” he added.

“The Government is continually harassing the Opposition. The FIR was filed to pressurise the Opposition leader. The Government may file any number of FIRs, but I will not be intimidated. My staff of eight was suddenly transferred to throttle the voice of Opposition. No substitutes have been posted till date. But we will continue to raise voice against injustice and corrupt practices,” he said.

Gupta said the work of desilting should have been completed much before onset of monsoon. “But it did not happen due to inefficiency and corruption in the Government. Due to slow pace of the PWD work, Anus, son of Naushad, a poor labourer lost his life in May this year in the PWD nullaha because it was not desilted. The family has not been given compensation till dated,” Gupta said.
