Monuments like Dhauli, Khandagiri-Udayagiri and Konark will soon get light and sound systems. The State Government has already received `1 crore against the sanctioned amount of `5 crore for each of the three monuments from the Centre.
A meeting held under chairmanship of Tourism and Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty at the State Secretariat on Tuesday revealed that the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has already given conditional permissions to the State Tourism Department to start lighting and sound installation work at the monuments. Accordingly, the Minister directed all the concerned officials to complete the preliminary works within a month’s time. Among others, Director (Finance) of India Tourism Development Corporation Trinath Behera, Managing Director (Engineer) AB Kumar, Deputy Managing Director (Sound and Illumination) AK Gupta and State Tourism Secretary Sudarsan Pal Thakur were present.
