let lotus bloom in Bengal, Amit Shah exhorts people

Carrying to Bengal his experimental social engineering — physically mingling with the masses — that recently swept his party to power in Uttar Pradesh, BJP national president Amit Shah on Tuesday said the saffron outfit will win largest number of seats from the State in 2019 general polls and finally uproot the Mamata Banerjee Government in 2021.

launching a scathing attack on the Trinamool Government he said, “People brought Mamata Banerjee to power to get rid of the communist misrule, but she perpetrated a rule even worse than the one given by the left Front.”

The Trinamool Congress had unleashed a reign of terror, violence and corruption highlighted by syndicate and fake currency rackets, he said.

Shah said the Trinamool Congress was trying to scare away the BJP workers using violence but more they spread the muck of violence, the bigger the lotus will bloom, adding, the Trinamool Government is not allowing the Central Schemes to percolate to the grassroots level in a bid to thwart the movement of Narendra Modi’s chariot of development.

“But more they try to impede the development process, the more the BJP will gain support from the people,” Shah said.

Earlier, in a symbolic move Shah began his day’s campaign by visiting the humble households at Dakshin Katiajote village in Naxalbari near Siliguri, the birth place of ultra leftist movement saying “let peace prevail in a land that saw violent ultra-leftist movement decades ago.”

Sitting on the floor, he had meal at the house of one Raju Mahali. The meal comprised rice, moong dal, potol bhaja (parwal fry), squash curry with salad and papad, all served on banana leaf.

“He is one of our tallest leaders. Overwhelmed! Cannot imagine in my wildest dream of having lunch with him. This is his greatness which has moved the people around. Though CPI(M) leaders sometime do like this, Mamata Didi never shared meals with us like that,” a woman worker said adding, “ We will bet our lives to bring the BJP to power in Bengal.”

Drawing a huge applause from the packed audience at Indoor Stadium in Siliguri the BJP president said.

“There is no industry in Bengal as all have fled. The only one that thrives in this State is the bomb-making industry. Bombs boom in State of Rabindra Sangeet,” he thundered asking the people to back the BJP and said “You have tested, Congress, CPI(M) and Trinamool all of who have failed and so it is time to bring the BJP which is the largest party in the world with 11 crore members.”

He said 60 per cent of the voters back the BJP and 70 per cent of India was ruled by the party.

“The reason behind this is that in three years Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed the country to a fastest growing economy by bringing about some revolutionary reforms  -- the merging of the railway budget with general budget, the demonetisation to bring out black money, bringing benami laws to fight corruption are to name a few,” he said.

Shah, who will on Wednesday carry forward his ‘Meet the People Programme’ by interacting with the grassroot workers at Chetla in South Kolkata’s Bhawanipore Constituency of Mamata Banerjee, called upon the people of Bengal to let the lotus bloom in the State and help BJP to make India the greatest nation of the world.
