Many of those who had actively supported the movement for a separate Telangana State, now seem to be turning against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Government.
Disillusioned by the recent killing of two suspected Maoists by the police, the left parties and human rights groups have given a “Chalo Assembly” (March to State Assembly) call on September 30. They described the shooting near Medaram in Warangal district recently as a fake encounter.
The call was given after a meeting of revolutionary poet Vara Vara Rao with left parties and human rights organisations at the State CPI headquarters Makhdoom Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI) T Veerabhadram (CPI-M) Vimalakka (Telangana United Front president), Prof Haragopal (human rights activist), Cheruku Sudhakar (Telangana Forum) and representatives of various other organizations.
“KCR had declared that the Maoists agenda will be his Government’s agenda. But the same person has now reopened the door of fake encounters,” Vara Vara Rao said urging all the people to condemn it and protest against it to prevent recurrence of such events.
The participants of the meeting, releasing a programme poster of the march to the Assembly said every democratic person should participate in the protest.
Killing of T Shruti and Vidyasagar Reddy alias Sagar by the Greyhound force on September 16 has not only created a major controversy but also led to a feeling of insecurity among the ruling party MlAs, MPs and other leaders in Warangal.
The Government and the police officials have denied that the incident was a fake encounter and said the two were Maoists and they died in an exchange of fire.
Police have strengthened the security of Ministers and TRS leaders in the region since the incident fearing a reprisal. It is the first such incident in Telangana since the State was formed in June last year.
