Down in doldrums the Left and the Congress have once again returned to alliance. The two sides will jointly contest the upcoming Assembly bypolls for Kharagpur, Karimpur and Kaliaganj seats, Left Front chairman and CPI(M) Biman Bose said.
While the Congress’ Dhristashree and Udayan Mandal will contest from Kaliaganj and Kharagpur respectively, CPI(M)’s Golam Rabbi will fight from Karimpur in Nadia.
The TMC has fielded Tapandeb Singh from Kaliaganj, Bimalendu Singhroy from Karimpur and Pradip Sarkar (tentative) from Kharagpur. Speaking on the Left-Congress alliance senior Bengal Minister Subroto Mukherjee said “going by the voting pattern and political trend in the State results are a foregone conclusion.
The so-called alliance will come third and lose by huge votes.” He would however not mention BJP’s steady rise in the State.
