With the State Government being cornered in the Assembly over plumeting law and order situation, unidentified miscreants kidnapped a leading glass trader in Ferozabad district on Friday.
The sensational abduction took place in daylight barely 24 hours after DGP Sulkhan Singh reviewed law and order situation in Agra zone and warned top cops to pull up their socks or face the music.
As per reports, the owner of three of the largest glass factories in the state Sanjay Mittal was going on his car for some work on Friday morning. As his vehicle reached Nagla locality of Dakshin police station of Ferozabad, some unknown persons riding on a Pulsar motorcycle suddenly crashed into his car. As Mittal stepped out of his car to check the damage, the miscreants whipped out pistols and took him at gun point.
later handing out life threats, they huddled Mittal into his car and sped away from the scene. The miscreants abandoned their motorcycle which seems to be stolen. Some passers-by who witnessed the incident informed the police after which senior officers swung into action.
Sources said that the family has been eagerly waiting for a call which did not happen till evening and hence the motive is yet to be ascertained. However, the police analysed it to be a case of kidnapping for ransom and investigations have been started. Efforts were made to contact the trader's cellphone but it was switched off. Further investigations wre on.
later in the evening, ADG (law and order) Aditya Mishra later said that Special Task Force (STF) has been asked to assist the local police in tracking down abducted trader and the perpetrators. A hunt was launched to trace the trader's car which the kidnappers took away with them. More than a decade back, the kidnapped trader's father was also kidnapped by criminals.
