For better health care against communicable and mosquito-borne diseases, a meeting was organised under the chairmanship of District Magistrate (DM) S Rajalingam here on Sunday. The District Magistrate, while giving necessary guidelines, instructed the Health department to launch a special campaign in hotspot areas.
“Every year in April, July and October, special campaigns are conducted with inter-departmental coordination for effective control of communicable diseases. Along with government efforts, public participation is also important in this,” he said, adding that a hotspot situation should not be created anywhere in the district. “If such a situation exists anywhere, all the concerned officers should personally inspect it and availability of medicines should be ensured in all government hospitals and health centres.
The District Magistrate said that there must be regular reporting of new patients in all government and private hospitals and medical colleges.
He directed the Nagar Swasthya Ashikari that if a situation of water-logging and filth arises in vacant plots, then action should be taken against their owners by issuing notices etc as per rules. “The paramedics posted in PHCs/CHCs and other hospitals should provide their services regularly. Urban Development, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj departments should conduct fogging and anti-larvae spraying for effective control of mosquito regularly,” he said, seeking information from the Chief Medical Superintendents (CMS’) about the services being provided to the patients coming to the hospitals.
The District Magistrate directed that sensitisation and other activities regarding communicable diseases should be conducted in all the schools and colleges. “In view of the rains, the drains should be properly de-silted. There is a great need for cleanliness in settlements. Regular fogging should also be done here. Supply of pure drinking water should be ensured,” he instructed.
