A large delegation of US businessmen will attend the eight edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit in 2017 January, said Thomas Vajda, Consul General of the United States of America.

Vajada said that US companies were eying at investment opportunities in different fields including clean energy, technology and innovations, solutions related to Smart City and Clean India initiatives etc. Replying a question on whether US will be one of the partner countries in the Gujarat’s flagship biennial event for trade and investment, he said that Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has extended invitation to become partner country in the event. The US government would take call in coming days as by the time Vibrant Gujarat event would take place, the US will have new President.

In the last Vibrant Gujarat event in 2015, the US was one of the partner countries along with Australia, Canada, China, The Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa and The United Kingdom. The delegation from US in the 2015 Vibrant Gujarat was headed by non-other than US Secretary of State John Kerry.

“It’s a pleasure to be here in Gujarat, one of the five Indian states that comprise our Consulate’s district. A key priority for my trip was to meet Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and to better understand his leadership agenda for the state and explore the ways in which the US Consulate can work with the Government of Gujarat to advance our mutual goals,” said Vajda.

Terming the US-India relationship as exciting presently, he said that both the countries have seen deepening ties in the past two years that included Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s successful visits to Washington and President Obama’s historic visit to New Delhi.

“As evidence of this strong relationship, Secretary of State Kerry and Secretary of Commerce Pritzker were in New Delhi just last week with a large US Government and business delegation for our annual Strategic and Commercial Dialogue,” he said.
