Sulking JD(U) stalwart Sharad Yadav is arriving here on Thursday on a three-day visit for, what he said, to gauge the mood of the public about the party’s decision to break alliance with Mahagathbandhan and ally with the BJP.
While the JD(U) has not taken kindly Yadav’s visit and termed it his personal visit, the RJD is overenthusiastic and following the instruction from party supremo lalu Prasad and its leaders and workers are working to make former JD(U) president’s visit a success.
On the eve of Yadav’s arrival, lalu made a sensational allegation on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He said, “I have got the information that the CM has hatched a conspiracy to humiliate Yadav. He has asked his party men to jeer the senior politician with water bottles, slippers, black flags and murdabad slogans at the airport. I am informed about this conspiracy so I am sharing it with the media.”
lalu said that there was already a split in the JD(U) and the party headed by Yadav would be in the grand alliance with RJD and Congress. He said the alliance would take care of Yadav’s visit.
RJD leadership, sources said, have instructed its leaders and cadre in Muzaffarpur, Madhubani, Supaul, Saharsa and Madhepura, the itineraries of Yadav, to remain alert and make his visit success. After the instruction the RJD people have become active in their respective districts.
But the JD(U) leaders are visibly unhappy over the move of their former president, who is sulking after Nitish Kumar took a decision last fortnight to break ties with Mahagathbandhan and join hands with the BJP and form an NDA Government.
Bihar JD(U) chief Bashistha Narain Singh said Yadav’s visit is against the decision of the party. “It is his personal visit and it has nothing to do with the party,” he said. Singh claimed that the decision had been taken by the party as a whole and it was not a decision of Nitish. The decision to severe ties with the grand alliance, he added, had been taken by the State unit, legislature party, office bearers and district presidents. “If anyone goes ahead with his own plan it will be treated as against the decision of the party,” Singh said.
Yadav said in Delhi that he would undertake three day tour of Bihar to interact with common people and know their feelings. “The 11 crore of people gave mandate to an anti-BJP alliance and this mandate has not been honoured. Now the situation has changed in Bihar and I will try to gauge the mood of the people,” said the JD(U) stalwart who has organised a conclave in Delhi on August 17 in the name of a seminar.
