As Bihar continues to reel under intense heat, the “loyal” supporters of lalu Prasad Yadav from across the State have started reaching Patna to attend the RJD’s “Parivartan Rally” at the historic Gandhi Maidan on May 15.
RJD chief who has a great hope from his rally, is often quoted as saying that the rally will mobilise the people for ultimate ouster of the NDA Government in the State.
The countdown of the Nitish Kumar Government has already begun and the Parivartan Rally will accelerate the process of its downfall, lalu Prasad Yadav said. lalu is organising a rally on such a scale in Patna after a very long gap as the RJDRss “Chetawani Rally” was held way back in 2007.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, however, has altogether a different opinion about “Parivartan” rally, stating that lalu is organising the rally with a purpose to hand over the leadership of his party to his two sons, Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap or T2. “Now, we will have T2 in place of S2”, the Chief Minister remarked recently while referring lalu’s brothers-in-law, Sadhu Yadav and Subhash Yadav as S2.
“We had organised Adhikar Rallies in Patna and New Delhi for the special status but lalu is holding Parivartan rally for his sons”, Nitish Kumar commented.
The irrepressible lalu retorted by saying that his sons can become only RJD leaders and asked Nitish Kumar what he expected from them whether they will carry arrow (symbol of JD-U) or lotus (symbol of BJP).
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi also took a dig at “Parivartan Rally” and asked whether lalu wants that all good roads built under the NDA regime should be damaged for bringing “Parivartan” (change) in the State.
Caring least about all these comments from his political adversaries, lalu who has already mastered the art of organising rallies like Garib Rally, lathi Rally, Chetawani Rally and similar rallies, said that the “Parivartan Rally” will be the largest rally in the history of Bihar. lalu has adopted an aggressive posture since relationship between BJP and JD (U) started showing signs of cracks on the issue of projection of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate.
Apparently not gaining support from the Congress as expected by him, RJD Chief has no alternative other than aggressively reviving fortunes of his party by consolidating his position among Muslims and also expanding his support base among other castes including Forward Castes.
Meanwhile, Patna has literally turned into green with its arterial roads enveloped by RJD flags, posters and banners while party supporters already on roads to make the rally successful.
Several posters are written in Urdu with an objective to woo minority voters while photographs of Burqa-clad women and Muslims wearing caps have also found prominent places in the RJD posters, erected at various strategic locations.
Interestingly, Nitish Kumar will be busy with meeting the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia in New Delhi for finalising the stateRss plan size for 2013-14 when his bete noire laloo Prasad sharpens his diatribe against him at Gandhi Maidan.
Nothing leaving to chance, the RJD has also booked 13 trains to carry lalooRss supporters to Parivatan Rally.
Spl status to Bihar unlikely till Cong gets suitable price: Modi
Describing the Congress as the biggest “trader” party, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that the Congress-led UPA Government will not accord special status to the State until the Congress receives a “suitable” price for it.
Though not clarifying what price the Congress will demand in exchange of special status to Bihar, Modi told reporters in Patna on Tuesday that no body can do better trade than the Congresspersons and one can clearly see how the CBI is being misused to ensure support of certain parties, necessary for survival of the UPA Government.
When asked whether he means the Congress might force Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to enter into an alliance with the Congress if he wants the special status for Bihar, he said that it is up to the media what meaning they wish to derive from it.
Modi said that the Congress is completely non-serious about according special status to Bihar and Union Finance Minister Chidambaram has made the announcement about the constitution of a sub-committee for reviewing parameters fixed for the special status when the lok Sabha election can be held at any time in view of the present political uncertainty.
Chidambaram had mentioned about constituting a committee for revisiting parameters fixed for declaring a State backward in his budget speech itself way back on February 28 but the UPA Government slept over the matter for more than two month.
