lalan returns to Nitish fold

In run-up to the 2014 lok Sabha elections, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and suspended JD(U) MP from Munger Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias lalan Singh have buried their hatchet as Singh says all his problems with the Chief Minister have been solved.

Singh was not on good terms with Kumar for the last few years and was suspended from the party in 2011 by JD(U) president Sharad Yadav on the charge of indulging in anti-party activities.

Singh, who was disturbed with the “curtailment” of his powers in the party, had even openly worked for the Congress candidates in the 2010 State Assembly elections.

Singh told The Pioneer that all problems with Kumar have been solved and now he wants to make his contribution to the development of the State.

“Bihar is progressing fast under the leadership of Nitish Kumar and I am also eager to become a part of this development process,” he remarked.

Kumar also responded to Singh’s decision to have a good relationship with him in the equal measure and stated that all issues are  settled now. Both Nitish Kumar and lalan Singh were seen together at the time of inauguration of a bridge over Kiul river, linking lakhisarai and Begusarai districts. They spent some happy moments together at the stage, giving sufficient signals that both of them have now sunk their all differences.

Addressing the people at the time of inauguration of the bridge, Kumar said that he never spoke against lalan Singh in the public and remarked that people should at least give him credit for one fact that no body can stay away from him for a very long period.

lalan Singh is known for his strong organisational capability and generally works from “behind the scenes”. But his re-entry into the centrestage of the party might be a cause of some discomfiture for those leaders who have occupied places of importance in his “absence” and also have a dislike for his “influential” style of functioning.
