Uttarakhand BJP State chief Tirath Singh Rawat has strongly opposed and condemned the campaigning done by Vidhan Sabha Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal in favour of Congress candidates. He said that Kunjwal should strictly abstain himself from campaigning for the lok Sabha elections. He said that attending public meetings and participating in campaigning along with Chief Minister Harish Rawat is not acceptable as Kunjwal sits on constitutional post.
Rawat lamented that Kunjwal is campaigning in the favour of Congress candidates which will dent his image. He also claimed that the party will highlight this issue in front of election commission in order to seek intervention. After alleging that Congress-led State Government has completely failed on all fronts, Rawat said that development works have stopped in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of the state and the situation is worst in the mountainous parts of the state as villagers are forced to traverse several kilometers to fetch the items of basic needs like potable water, medicines etc.
According to him, Congress has already accepted its defeat as the party is yet to announce the names of contesting candidates in the State. Rawat also claimed that the party candidates will surely win all five seats in the upcoming parliamentary election, which is slated to take place in the next month.
Meanwhile, dozens of youth have joined the BJP in a function held at BJP Mahanagar office in Dehradun on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, Neelam Sehgal, Mahanagar President, claimed that the party will emerge victorious in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
