The police on Tuesday arrested a person with ISIS and JMB links, sources said. Mosiuddin alias Musa alias Majnu a native of luvpur in Birbhum district of Bengal was on Monday evening apprehended from a Birbhum-bound train and detained for questioning.
“He was formally arrested on Tuesday after night-long interrogations” a senior police officer said adding his mobile call records suggested specific links with at least two Bangladeshi terrorists belonging to the banned Jamat-ul-Mujahideen group. “His e-mail and social-networking records suggest that he was in constant touch with terror links in Bangladesh and ISIS groups,” said the officer.
Mosiuddin was coming from Tamil Nadu where he currently resided with a wife and a child. “Whether he was coming back to Birbhum on a recruitment drive or to go under cover for sometime in the wake of arrests made in Hyderabad is to be ascertained but there is some definite proof that he has been working for the groups like JMB and ISIS,” he added. The terrorist was arrested while on board Viswabharati fast passenger on Tuesday. “We had specific information from Tamil Nadu about this man” said Dilip Adak, DIG, CID (operations) adding he disembarked at Howrah Station, travelled to Esplanade are in Kolkata where he purchased a dagger about 13 inches long, before going back to Howrah from where he boarded the Birbhum-bound train. He was finally apprehended and detained at Burdwan. Sources said the police were on the lookout for SK Kalu who was waiting at luvpur to receive him. “A dagger, an improvised gun, three bullets, an android phone” and some Syrian and Afghani currencies were found on him, the officer said adding it was also being ascertained as to whether this man had any link with the Dhaka terror attack.
Musa had admitted to his close links with Amjad Sheikh a key JMB module arrested after 2014 Khagragarh blast in the wake of which a large terror network to recruit and train and export terrorists to Bangladesh was unearthed by the National Investigation Agency. Musa was currently being interrogated by the NIA, CID and was likely to be produced before a court on Wednesday.
