Kodandaram goes to HC to get permission for inaugural meeting of his new party

In the continuing tug of war between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the newly formed Telangana Jana Samiti, the State Government has apparently refused to grant permission to the public meeting where Kodandaram was scheduled to launch the party.

Kodandaram, who has faced similar roadblocks from the TRS Government many a times in the past, has approached the Hyderabad High Court to secure the permission for his meeting. He requested the court that the permission should be granted at any of the three venues, Saroornagar stadium, NTR stadiums or lal  Bahadur Stadium on April 27. Admitting his petition the High Court has issued notice to the Director General of Police, Hyderabad city police commissioner and the home secretary.

Senior Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao has come down heavily on the TRS Government on its refusal to permit the pubic meeting of Kodandram. “When you can allow the use of stadiums for the programs of the film stars, why cant you allow the public meeting of Kodandaram who has been fighting for the public causes”, he questioned. He warned that if the State Government obstructs the public meeting of Telangana Jana Samiti, it will trigger a tsunami of public anger against the Government. “Telangana is under the rule of Doras (feudal lords). Such oppression was not there even in the united Andhra Pradesh”, he said.
