There seems to be no thaw between the BJDeepak K Upreti n P and suspended party MP Kirti Azad as the latter on Friday wrote to  party president Amit Shah stressing that the party has “nothing to do” with the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) corruption which is“out of its purview” as it has not been mentioned in the suspension letter sent to him .

Appearing to be in adefiant mood, the suspended MP said he has “neither acted against the party’s constitution nor against the interests of the party.”

“As you have not mentioned DDCA corruption, I believe that the party has nothing to do with this matter and purely out of its purview”, says the concluding part of the letter of Azad to the party president. Azad was suspended on December 23 with immediate effect for his “anti-party activities” under article XXV (rule 10) of the BJP’s constitution.

The three-time Darbhanga MP from Bihar has asked Shah to provide him at the earliest instances proof that he has indulged in anti-party activities so that “he could clear the air and provide him with answers to his satisfaction”.

Claiming he has not  indulged in anti-party activity, Azad said his “unblemished record of 23 years will testify it. “Azad said he has been a loyal soldier of the BJP since 1993 when he was elected as MlA, New Delhi assembly.

Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy who has been providing “legal and technical assistance” to Azad had tweeted on Thursday that the DDCA did not figure in the  party constitution as a subject for taking disciplinary action.

Asked whether he has interacted with veteran leaders of BJP’s ‘Margdarshak Mandal’, Azad said as of now he could not meet any of them. The MP said he would seek an appointment with Prime Minister Modi once he returns from Pakistan.

In the backdrop of the controversy surrounding Azad who has been baiting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the alleged corruption in DDCA and the subsequent party action against him, BJP veterans lK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha, who have been vocal against party leadership, Thursday went into a huddle over the developments.

Azad has been targeting   Jaitley over the latter’s role in the alleged corruption at the DDCA without specifically naming him. Earlier, he has been sounded by the Party not to persist with his “activities” and scale down his campaign on the issue

The Aam Aadmi Party, ruling in Delhi, had levelled the same charges against Jaitley  following which the finance minister had filed a defamation suit of `10 crore against six people including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
