Kerala's Marxist CM praises Modi, Centre

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is a Marxist to the core and a sworn enemy of the BJP and RSS but that does not prevent him from showering praises on the BJP-led NDA Government in the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Cabinet colleagues when it comes to the issue of the Centre’s cooperation with the State in matters of development.

Pinarayi, accused by the Kerala BJP of being one of the chief plotters behind the CPI(M) attacks against BJP-RSS activists in Kannur district, told a gathering in Kozhikode on Thursday that the present Government in the Centre had been responding “very creatively” to matters related to Kerala unlike some of its predecessors.

“When we had approached the Centre – those in the Government including the Prime Minister (Modi) and others – on issues related to development of the State, the response we got from them were very creative,” Pinarayi, former secretary of the CPI(M) in Kerala, said at a reception accorded to him by the Kozhikode Corporation.

“All of you know very well about the stand we take politically (against each other). However, that had not reflected in their approach when we raised the general affairs concerning the development of the State,” the Chief Minister said.
