New Delhi: Indian diplomats managed to secure the release of Regi Joseph who was abducted in March this year in libya. The rescue raises hope for several Indians abducted in Iraq, Father Thomas kidnapped

by ISIS in Yemen and Indian woman Judith D' Souza abducted in Afghanistan.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday broke the news about the Indian national being freed and lauded efforts made by Indian Ambassador to libya Azar AH Khan.

"Indian Embassy in libya has secured the release of Regi Joseph — an Indian national from Kerala. He was abducted in March this year. This has been possible

with the efforts of Azar AH Khan our Ambassador in libya," Swaraj said in a series of tweets.

Joseph is from Kozhikode in Kerala and was working as a computer engineer near the libyan capital, Tripoli when he was abducted in March.

He had been in libya for the last two years with his wife, who works as a nurse, and three children.

Joseph's release is part of the success stories for Indian Government which got

Indian nurses released from captivity in Iraq and Indian priest Father Alexis Prem Kumar from Taliban custody in Afghanistan.

Joseph's release has also raised hopes of family members of those who are captives in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen. Swaraj maintains that her Ministry will leave no efforts in tracing out missing Indians.
